Here's a neat link I found on google for Graphic Design tutorials. Most of them are pretty basic, but I tried a few of them and they are fun and helped refine my understanding of the programs.

Underoath - Disambiguation cover art
In November, the band "Underoath" is releasing a new album, and recently hosted a community game on their website where they had their fans find and upload pictures of pieces of their new album artwork. The piece is finished, and the cover really interests me. Assuming the picture on the website ends up being the final artwork, the first thing I make note of is that it doesn't contain the album name or the band's name, just the symbol they've been using for almost a decade now. I like how the cover somehow manages to say so much without saying anything at all.

Johnny Cupcakes
If there is anyone I know of who "made it" when it comes to design and business, it's Johnny Earle, or better known "Johnny Cupcakes". He is a college dropout who presently owns a multimillion dollar business that was created with "no start up loans, no investors, no wholesaling or help from giant stores, and little-to-no advertising" as stated on his website. Basically, he started making fun t-shirts that appealed to a large crowd, gaining his reputation through word of mouth and his risky business strategy. Check out his website to see his products and read the full story.
Rob Dobi
To start, I think I'll link the website to the artist who was a major inspiration to me in high school, and who sparked my interest in graphic design. His name is Rob Dobi, and he has had a major influence on the styles of current band t shirts in 2010. He doesn't do much work for bands anymore and instead opened his own online T-shirt shop, where he prints simple designs with simple ideas.
He also does a ton of photography of abandoned buildings and works as an illustrator.
